Hello Dear Club Members, Friends and Family,
You may be aware that yesterday California Governor Gavin Newsom called for the closure of all bars, nightclubs, wineries and brewpubs. While he stopped short of mandating these closures, he added that they would utilize Executive Orders to mandate and enforce these closures should the requests be ignored. As a member of the industry lobbying entity The Wine Institute, I received guidelines last night on best practices moving forward.
Obviously, the safety of my staff, family, customers and myself are of the utmost concern for me in the midst of this terrible situation. At the same time, I have learned over the last few days that wine is much more important to us all than I previously thought. And I thank all of you that came in late last week and over the weekend. We are committed to keeping you stocked on wine, keeping commerce rolling and keeping us all safe.
After emergency meetings with staff yesterday and today, and taking into account the recommendations of yesterday’s communique from The Wine Institute we have determined the following course of action.
TASTING ROOM
The Newsome Harlow Tasting Room will stay open for all pickups and wine purchases. No wine tasting will be conducted. We will be practicing “social distancing” and will only allow one group at a time into the tasting room (groups larger than three or four are discouraged). There will be a waiting room available in case there is a customer in the tasting room when you arrive. I personally will be on hand to conduct transactions and let you know how we are all faring. We will be open from Noon to 5pm this week for these pickups. Should you find yourself needing wine during this crisis – we will be accepting orders via telephone, text, email and website. Info on how to place these orders is listed below. Also below are the methods of how you can receive these orders.
DRIVE-UP SERVICE
We will be offering a drive-up service in front of the tasting room and at the bottom of the rear stairway to the tasting room. Simply text or call when you have arrived to let us know where you are and we will bring these orders down to your car (yes, even in the snow). Call 209/728-9843 or text 209/743-5360
DELIVERY SERVICE
We are offering local delivery service on all orders of 6 or more bottles. There is no charge for this service. As of this week we will be delivering to the Hwy 4 corridor Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays weather permitting. Sonora, Jamestown and Twain Harte areas will be serviced on Tuesdays and Thursdays. THESE DETAILS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Remember, we are all in new territory so we will be adapting on the fly.
SHIPPING INCENTIVES
As many of you know, we work daily with FedEx as our primary shipper. If you are hunkering down and would love some of your favorite wines to share during this time, we are temporarily lowering our shipping charges. In addition, all orders of 6 bottles or more will get their shipping costs included with that purchase
